How a Shopify Redesign at Blend Works

You should work with people who understand your brand. That’s why we’ll kick off with a Discovery Call to understand the current challenges and aspirations for the brand you’ve worked so hard to build, and we’ll do a deep dive into the existing functionality of your current store. After that, we’ll run an optional heatmap analysis of your store, which can take a minimum of two weeks, to understand user behaviour and provide valuable insights and recommendations. This, coupled with the information discussed in our Discovery call, will give us everything we need for our Redesign Roadmap.

What’s Next?

From there, we’ll get stuck into making the Shopify store of your dreams while you take a deep sigh of relief.  The Redesign Roadmap, along with a proposed tech stack, if necessary, will be passed on to you for approval. And then, we begin the fun part: wireframing. Design always begins with a wireframe to build the skeleton of what elements need to be where. We map out the user journey from page to page to ensure customers are guided where they need to go when they need to get there.

Shopify Store Design

Now that the customer journey is planned to a tee and everything is well on its way, our talented design team will create your dream store from beginning to end. Initially, we’ll create a design concept page in Figma to ensure we are on the right track, and following your approval, we will roll out the full Designs. Our designs will go through our robust internal QAQC process to ensure everything aligns with your goals for your redesign, a cohesive customer journey, and best practices. Our high-fidelity Figma designs will then be passed on to you for approval, where you can provide feedback or request any changes that may be needed. You have up to two rounds of iterations in the design process.

Following your approval of the designs, we will scope the build based on the designs to provide a fixed cost for Development. Following sign-off on the fixed costs, we’ll send everything over to our development team, who will begin building your store’s full functionality to ensure everything looks and functions in the best way possible.

Building Your Premium Shopify Redesign

Your Shopify Store will be built in sections, starting with the Components. These are things like the fonts, colours, and CTAs - the elements that will be prevalent throughout your Shopify Store. The components will go through our robust internal QAQC process (including peer Code Review, Design QAQC and Final Review), and only once they pass Final Review with our Head of Design and Development will the rest of our development team jump in to start working on the various sections of your Shopify redesign. 

Once all sections have been built and the development is complete, it will once again undergo the internal QAQC and Final Review process with our Head of Design and Development. Once this has been passed, it will go to you for approval.

The Internal QAQC Process

Both the designs and the development will go through our robust internal QAQC process. All design work will be QAQCed by a Peer Designer. After passing the initial QAQC, the designs will go to our Head of Design and Development for a Final Review before we share them with you and your team. Once your team signs off on the designs, we will scope the development and provide a fixed cost for building your theme. 

Our development tasks will also undergo an in-depth QAQC process. Each section will pass through to a Peer Developer for Code Review and then be passed to a Designer for QAQC to ensure that the build matches the designs exactly. Once both Code Review and Design QAQC are passed, they will go over to our Head of Design and Development for Final Review. Our Head of Design and Development has a bird's-eye view of everything happening with your redesign from beginning to end, and the attention to detail ensures that we provide only the highest quality work

Once each section has passed through QAQC, Code Review, and Final Review, we will begin a full QAQC of the entire site now that all the puzzle pieces fit together. Not only will your site go through a Developer QAQC but it will also go through a Design QAQC to ensure that not only the functionality of the site works as it should, but the build matches the beautiful designs that you originally signed off. Following the completion of the final full site QAQC process, the site then passes over to our Head of Design and Development for the last Final Review, ensuring only the highest quality of work is passed over to you and your team for review.

Go-Live of Your Shopify Redesign

Once our Head of Design and Development is happy, we’ll provide you with a Preview link to review the site, along with documentation for any actions we may need you and your team to take before the new site goes live. We’ll also provide you with access to software that will make providing feedback, asking questions or raising bugs very simple for you and your team. This will make it seamless for you and your team to review the site, raise any bugs, ask any questions, or leave feedback. Our team will fix any bugs raised (if any), and we’ll liaise with you to determine a go-live day.

Nothing goes live or is implemented without your approval. Through transparent communication, you’ll know exactly what’s happening and when it’s happening, and you’ll never be left in the dark. Our team will be on call to support you during the go-liveand address bugs (should any exist) in the post-go-live process. We will also be on hand for two weeks post-go-live to attend to any bugs, although this is usually unlikely.

Generally, we’ll need 2 months for the Discovery and Design phase, although this can sometimes be reduced substantially if your team is able to provide feedback and sign off in a quick turnaround.  Development takes 6-8 weeks, and we recommend allowing at least 1-2 weeks for your team to review the site and our developers to implement any bug fixes (if needed) before we agree to our go-live date.

While we can do migrations from other platforms, we generally prefer to work with brands who are already on Shopify. We are Shopify experts and only redesign sites for Shopify specifically.
