We know it’s only September, but who said Christmas couldn’t come early? 

 

Forget Santa – Recharge knows exactly what you want this year. There’s nothing better than change, and the new refreshed Novum theme from Recharge comes with all the bells and whistles you need to turn your day – no, your year– around! 

 

If you’re familiar with Recharge, you’d know that the Novum theme forms part of the family alongside the Prima theme, a light, clean theme that allows your customers to easily access and modify all aspects of their subscription. 

 

Both are excellent, and both do their job. But there can only be one winner.

 

Before diving into all the benefits of the redesigned Novum theme, let’s first detail the highlights of Recharge’s Prima:  

What’s Great About Prima?

Easy Home Page Navigation  

The Prima theme provides the customer with a quick summary of their account, including their next upcoming order and most recent order.

Separated Edit Order and Edit Subscription pages

 

These two pages allow your customers to get their hands dirty and edit all details of a specific subscription product. They will also enable them to edit the entire order, affecting all products.

Grouping Per Date

 

All subscription items with the same delivery date are grouped in the same subscription card if purchased together or in the same column separated by address if they have different shipping addresses.

Order Now button

This button gives your customers the option to accelerate their next subscription charge. By clicking this button, Recharge immediately processes the cost, so customers don't have to wait.

Add-On Products

Your customers can add one-time products and subscriptions by clicking Add a Product in the Subscription page of their portal. Customers can review your product list to add recurring or one-time products to their order. 


Novum Has Its Perks, Too. 

This new theme is designed explicitly for subscription businesses. With the addition of small details like trashing the “Cancel” button and replacing it with options like “Skip” or “Swap,” Recharge moves in favour of doing what it does best: retaining customers. 

 

There are, however, a plethora of further highlights that are just as awesome in comparison to Prima: 

Add-On Products with Try Something New

The Novum theme helps to easily upsell products on upcoming subscription orders with the "Try Something New" feature. This allows merchants to showcase one-time products and subscriptions as add-ons directly to customers from their customer portal. 

 

And, if you’re not a fan of the“Try something new” text, you can always change it by navigating to the Translations settings in your merchant portal.

Mobile-First Design

Perhaps our favourite feature of the new Novum theme: a mobile-first approach. In an age where most people do almost everything from their devices, this new theme ensures that customers have a smooth experience on any device they access the portal on.

Delivery Schedule Tab

 

Novum includes a Delivery schedule tab in the customer portal that breaks down future subscriptions and one-time products based on the day they are set to charge. This helps customers get all their ducks in a row, giving them a breakdown based on the day of charge and shipping address for easy access.

What Else?

If you thought it couldn’t get any better, think again. 

 

Didn’t we mention that Christmas came early? Novum isn’t done with you yet! 

Multiple Payment Methods

This change allows you to: 
  • Segregate shipping addresses from payment methods, allowing customers to edit both separately
  • Move subscriptions between payment methods and shipping addresses
  • Group subscriptions by shipping address and payment method
  • Place all subscriptions under an alternative payment method with one click 

Auto-Renewal Law Updates

Recharge has made UI changes and provided tools so that you can be compliant with the Automatic Renewal Law. What have they done exactly? Well, in the name of keeping customers happy, this is what you can expect: 

  • Recharge has now assured customers that leaving a comment in the cancellation process isn’t do-or-die, thanks to the addition of an “optional” watermark. The same goes for the “Select a reason for cancelling your subscription” field
  • Customers can click on “Next” without having to select any cancellation reason (although this will only happen if the “Make cancellation reasons optional” setting option is enabled)

Force Shopify Customer Account Logins

In an effort to up their security efforts, Recharge has included a great new security feature that forces users to log in to their Shopify Accounts, along with updated theme files that include the necessary code to support the “Force Shopify customer account logins” setting for Shopify stores. 

Bundles

And last but not least, the Novum theme comes with new, fully customisable Bundles for one-time & subscription customers that allows businesses to: 

  • Choose which products and how many customers can add to their bundles
  • Allow customers to select their box and choose their contents using a Bundles widget 
  • Give customers the freedom to update the contents of their bundle at any time
