Blend took on the challenge by implementing two key features for Certainly Wood: subscriptions and memberships. The process was highly detailed, ensuring that every aspect of the project was tailored to the brand’s needs.
The first step was to introduce subscriptions, which allowed customers to automate repeat purchases of Certainly Wood’s products. Using Recharge, we integrated a subscription model that was seamlessly integrated into the existing website, allowing customers to toggle between one-time purchases and subscriptions, as well as select their preferred delivery frequency. This addition not only streamlined the purchasing process but also provided customers with the convenience they had been looking for.
Sandra Taylor highlighted how smooth the design phase was: “The next phase of design was equally as efficient: they produced a design which I could easily give feedback to, but it did not require many significant changes either. The Blend team seemed to understand what our brand was about and designed the website better than we initially imagined.”
In addition to subscriptions, Blend Commerce created a membership program for Certainly Wood, called the Fire Club. This program was designed as a loyalty feature, where customers could pay an annual fee to receive exclusive perks. The Fire Club membership offered benefits such as a 10% discount on all orders, a free gift upon renewal, free AM/PM delivery, a £15 birthday reward, and priority access to products nearing out-of-stock status. This was more than just a subscription product; it was a way to reward loyal customers and keep them engaged with the brand.
Recognising the importance of flexibility for customers, Blend ensured that Fire Club members could change their next shipment date as they wished. This feature allowed members to select their preferred delivery date through a calendar in the customer portal, which was particularly valuable given the nature of Certainly Wood’s bulky products. To further enhance the membership experience, a customer support widget was also integrated into the portal, making it easy for members to access assistance whenever needed.
Additionally, on the product detail page (PDP), Fire Club members would automatically see their membership discount displayed, providing a clear indication of how their benefits applied to their purchases. And to reinforce Certainly Wood’s commitment to sustainability and add further value to the membership experience, we also introduced an eco-friendly initiative that tracked the number of trees planted through orders, both for the entire site and for individual members.
Despite the complexity of the project, Blend Commerce delivered a final product that met Certainly Wood’s high expectations. Sandra noted, "Development followed after that – we were on a tight deadline to deliver the project which meant some pressure was put onto the Blend team to deliver quicker, and whilst we did see a delay in the start of the project, the final product was great."
