A/B/C Test
Moving Product Recommendation Widget Higher on the PDP
Scroll map analysis revealed that the Applications section on the product detail page was blocking visibility of the product recommendation module - limiting product discovery for users landing directly on PDPs. At the same time, removing the Applications content entirely led to confusion, as many users actively sought it out for decision-making.
To solve both issues, we implemented an A/B/C test, with two variations: one that repositioned the product recommendation widget above the Applications section, and another that did the same but also placed the Applications content within an accordion, preserving access while reducing friction.
The Results
Both variants delivered impressive results, but Variant 2 stood out. By improving visibility for product recommendations while keeping the Applications content accessible, it drove a 65.16% increase in conversion rate and a 131.35% uplift in revenue per visitor.
User testing confirmed that visitors naturally interacted with the accordion layout, making it easier to access both product recommendations and technical content. With statistical significance nearing 90%, and no compromise to user experience, Variant 2 has been recommended for permanent implementation.
