Six Brothers Beef Shopify CRO Case Study: 177% Conversion Growth
Low traffic made conventional A/B testing impractical, so Six Brothers Beef needed an evidence-led way to improve conversion without waiting months for statistically significant results.
The Problem
Six Brothers Beef had begun building its Shopify channel but needed the store to turn limited traffic into more completed purchases. With volumes too low for A/B testing to reach statistical significance within a useful timeframe, Blend used CRO audit evidence, behavioural hypotheses and relevant benchmark learnings to prioritise one month of direct implementation. The work focused on strengthening product-page confidence, making mobile imagery easier to browse and keeping navigation accessible. In the subsequent three-month year-on-year measurement window, conversion rate increased by 177%, revenue per session by 128% and revenue by 73%, despite 24% fewer human sessions.
What We Did To Help
The Insight
Six Brothers Beef was building a newer Shopify sales channel alongside an established offline business. The opportunity was not simply to attract more visitors. With relatively limited ecommerce traffic, the store needed to make every product visit work harder by helping customers understand the offer, explore products and move towards purchase with less hesitation.
Blend’s CRO Audit & Roadmap identified a cluster of connected usability issues. Product value propositions were not prominent enough at the buying point, mobile product imagery was less easy to scan, and desktop customers could lose access to the main navigation as they moved through longer pages.
These were individually contained issues, but together they affected orientation, product understanding and confidence at commercially important moments.
The Hypothesis
Blend’s hypothesis was that making reassurance and product information easier to access would help more customers act on the intent they already had. Clearer value propositions close to Add to Cart could answer an immediate “why buy from this brand?” question. Visible image thumbnails could make it easier for mobile shoppers to assess the product. Persistent navigation could reduce unnecessary backtracking across the wider journey.
The recommendations were taken from a wider evidence-led roadmap and prioritised around likely commercial impact, confidence in the supporting evidence and implementation effort. This reflects the same decision-making principles used in Blend’s PECTI prioritisation framework.
Why Direct Implementation Was the Right Call
A conventional A/B test was not appropriate for this phase. At the available traffic level, the experiments would have needed to run for too long to produce statistically meaningful answers. Waiting for an underpowered result would have delayed changes supported by the audit, UX evaluation and relevant prior learnings.
Blend therefore treated each recommendation as a structured hypothesis and moved into direct implementation. The approach remained evidence-led: each change had a defined customer problem, a reason it could influence behaviour and a clear QA process before release. This allowed the brand to make progress without presenting the work as statistically proven experimentation.
What Changed
During the initial month of ongoing CRO implementation, Blend focused on three improvements:
- PDP value propositions: Important brand and product reassurance was placed close to the purchase area, including clearer messaging around the meat being antibiotic and hormone free.
- Mobile image thumbnails: Square thumbnails, clearer spacing and a distinct active-image state made the product gallery easier to scan and control on smaller screens.
- Sticky desktop navigation: The existing theme setting was enabled so customers could retain access to navigation while scrolling instead of returning to the top of the page.
The changes were deliberately practical. They targeted points where customers needed to understand the product, verify its value or choose their next action, while keeping the resulting sections manageable through the existing Shopify theme.
Why It Mattered
Buying food online depends heavily on confidence. Customers cannot inspect a product in person, so imagery, provenance and reassurance must do more of the work. By improving those signals near the buying area and making the surrounding journey easier to navigate, Six Brothers Beef could support purchase decisions without relying on deeper discounting or adding more complexity to the store.
The Results
The three-month Shopify comparison covered 1 June to 31 August 2026 against the same period in 2025. Human sessions decreased by 24%, yet conversion rate increased by 177%, revenue per session increased by 128% and total revenue increased by 73%. Added to Cart Rate also increased by 32%, Reached Checkout Rate by 103% and Completed Checkout Rate by 24%.
The way these metrics moved together is more useful than any one percentage in isolation. Six Brothers Beef generated substantially more revenue from a smaller audience, while improvement was visible at several linked stages of the funnel. This suggests the store became more effective at turning existing demand into purchase progression rather than depending on traffic growth.
Average order value fell by 30%, so the revenue improvement was not driven by larger baskets. The commercial gain came from stronger conversion efficiency, which supports the original decision to focus on clarity, confidence and ease of purchase.
These are aggregate year-on-year results rather than controlled test outcomes, so they also reflect wider trading conditions and should not be attributed solely to the CRO changes. Even with that limitation, the results support the direction of the initial hypotheses and show why evidence-led direct implementation can be commercially valuable when traffic levels make reliable A/B testing impractical.
