Something that SaaS website are way better at than eCommerce brands is product comparisons.

And by comparison I don’t just mean Us vs Brand X.

Or b*hy “we’re amazing and everyone else is bin juice” pages.

I mean useful comparison pages.

AKA Battle Cards.

Pages that help a buyer understand why one option makes sense over another.

And do it for all your competitors:

  • Other brands
  • The cheaper Amazon dupe
  • The DIY workaround
  • The product they already own
  • The bundle they’re trying to cobble together themselves
  • And people doing absolutely nothing (the most common one)

The purpose of a Battle Card is not to pick fights but make the decision easier for your customers.

Part comparison page.

Part objection handler.

And part “let’s stop making the customer do all the thinking.”

Your Battle Card doesn’t need to be complicated.

It just needs to answer five questions:

  • What is the customer really comparing this against?
  • Who should choose your product, and who probably shouldn’t?
  • What are the real trade-offs?
  • What proof makes your claims believable?
  • What should the customer do next?

That’s it.

Great for SEO.

Even better for getting customers to buy.
