How to create a Facebook Shop

Since Facebook is extremely intuitive and user-friendly, setting up a Facebook shop is a straightforward process. Simply follow these six steps and go through the processes that Facebook presents:

  1. Create a Facebook business page if you have not yet
  2. Go to your Facebook Page and configure the Shop page
  3. Set up your shop details
  4. Add your payment details and configure your payments
  5. Add products to your Facebook store (more on this below)
  6. Manage your orders

How to add products on Facebook

Once you have set up your shop, Facebook will encourage you to add your first product. Much like creating the shop, this is an intuitive process. Start by clicking on the ‘Add Product’ button, and then have these details ready to add:

  • Product images and videos
  • Name and product description
  • Price
  • Inventory
  • Shipping options

After adding these details, you will be presented with the option to “Share this product on your Page”. Click this if you would like to share the product on your page immediately. Next, set the visibility to ‘Public’. And with that, you have your first Facebook Shop product! Repeat this process as many times as required.

Alternatively, if you already have a Shopify store, you can simply use an app to integrate both stores. Go to your Shopify panel and add an app called Facebook Channel to your setup. Once you’ve installed the app, your Shopify products will be exported to your Facebook shop. This is a wonderfully simple way to set up your shop while using the support of Shopify.

Product tagging Facebook

Product tagging on Facebook involves tagging images and videos with the products present in them so that customers can simply click on what they like and be taken to the product. This allows for much easier shopping, and as is clear in eCommerce, ease and speed encourage shopping.

In order to tag products on your Facebook shop, follow these simple steps:

  1. On your Page click ‘Create Post’
  2. Upload your image or video post
  3. Next to ‘Add to Your Post’ click the (shopping bag) icon
  4. Click ‘Upload Photos or Video’
  5. Click the product you want to tag and type in the product's name
  6. Click ‘Done Tagging’ and save

How to sell on Facebook page

The key to selling products on your Facebook page is ensuring that you use good, high-quality images, add a full description, promote it across your network, and utilise product tagging.
